Treatments – Stages & Methods
We are committed to excellent standards of treatment. See below for how we treat, the stages of treatment, and common conditions we have successfully treated.
Stages of Treatment
Stage 1 Diagnosis
We go to great lengths to ensure we have a full understanding as to the patients need, symptoms and any other conditions. Our diagnosis includes:
-
We take a detailed medical history.
-
Postural assessment to determine range of movement and gait patterns.
-
Determine pain triggers and palpation of soft tissue and joint restrictions
-
Perform orthopaedic and neurological tests if required
-
Read through medical reports/ x-rays/MRI scans
Stage 2 Ensuring Understanding
We discuss with you what we will do during the treatment, we’ll then talk you through the techniques used throughout the treatment and enable you to be involved in understanding your own body and the factors contributing to the pain/restriction you are feeling.
Stage 3 Range of Treatments
Our treatment for each patient is individual as no one person is the same.
We are experienced in treating a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, from acute back pain, neck pain, sciatica and spinal/disc problems, to plantarfascitis, knee pain, arthritis and rotator cuff injuries.
Stage 4 Post Treatment Support
After explaining what we have discovered during the treatment we offer a range of post treatment exercises and personalised plan that ensures the patient maintains their well being between treatments. This allows the patient to be fully involved in their own recovery and well being.

Our Methods
Hendrickson Method
Comprised of three styles: Wave Mobilisation, Joint Mobilisation and Muscle Energy Technique.
Wave Mobilisation
How it works:
This highly effective and unique way of working allows both the client and the therapist to be completely relaxed. By working in a Tai Chi based stance, the therapist hands and body are functioning without strain or causing pain to the client. The method is different from classical massage or soft tissue therapy as it not painful to receive. The soft tissue unwinding stokes are performed in a specific way that can dissolve adhesions. The strokes are:
-
Precise
-
Rounded scooping motions
-
Transverse or across the fibre
-
Performed rhythmically in precise directions.
What it does:
The intention is to work deeply but comfortably for the client. The specific directional strokes help to realign and unwind abnormal fibre arrangement to restore normal function and promote repair and healing of injury. The Hendrickson Method® not only deals with issues within muscle tissue, but also addresses the deeper soft tissue structures such as, tendon, ligament and capsular tissue. Due to the rhythmic movement from the therapist, it is profoundly relaxing and helps to calm the central nervous system.
Joint Mobilisation
Helps restore normal joint play/movement and reduces pain.
How it works:
Joint mobilisation is the movement of joints passively, or without muscular effort.
A unique feature of wave mobilisation is that both the joints and soft tissue are addressed in one movement.
As the movement from the therapist is applied, mechanoreceptors, specialised nerves which detect movement, override the receptors that signal pain, making the treatment feel more gentle. This allows access to deeper structures, such as the joints, capsule and ligaments to restore normal joint play and function.
What it does:
-
Restores normal joint play
-
Reduces pain
-
Encourages cellular repair and regeneration
-
Stimulates lubrication of the joint, encouraging production of synovial fluid
-
Normalises neurological function through sensory nerves
-
Decreases swelling
Muscle Energy Technique
Helps rehabilitate and re-educate the nervous system.
How it works:
This technique allows the client to be involved in their own healing and well being and start to understand how their own body is designed to function.
Using this technique, the patient gently but actively resists pressure to specifically isolate and contract muscles. This conscious movement activates the higher brain functions which then re-programs neurological patterns of habitual muscle tension or loss of muscle awareness and weakness. This process helps to retrain the brain that sends the signals to your joints and soft tissues.
What it does:
-
Reduces muscle Spasm
-
Relaxes Chronically Tight muscles
-
Reduces pain and trigger points
-
Helps to strengthen weak muscles
-
Educates or retrains the brain that sends signals to your joints and soft tissues
-
Stimulates repair of injured tissue and reduces inflammation and swelling
-
Improve range of movement in joints
